Vision of the Broad and Narrow ways – Robert Redei

On 12th of April, 2012 – at one of our House Church meeting while we prayed – I received the following vision.

I saw two ways. These two ways divided already at the beginning. On the left side was a broad and straight way paved with large, square, white stones. There were continuous metal barriers on either side of the road similar to crash barriers. Many people are walking on this road, all held in one direction – straight ahead. The road was so long the end could not been seen; it faded into nothingness.

On the right there was a narrow road rising up a mountain, serpentined with a very steep up-grade.  It also was paved with square stones, but there were no barriers and the stones close to the edge of the road were crumbling and falling away. This road was not straight, but ever winding upward, ending in fluffy clouds. The end of this road was beautiful but few people were walking on this road, and those were in small groups some distance from each other. The distance and the difference of level between the two roads increased continuously after the dividing point.  The edge of narrow way, different from the broad way, was in a bad condition; the outside stones had slipped down.  Between the two roads was a steep and barren slope. There were not either rocks nor plants. It was as though volcanic ash covered the hillside.

The paving stones on both roads had been placed there by many generations of people. The straight, wide road is easily and comfortably traveled and therefore the majority of people choose it.  They see many people there and therefore they mindlessly join them.  They do not see that the road leads only to nothing, hopeless and destruction.  Turning back on this road is impossible.  The barriers on the edges of road were placed by Satan to prevent any deviation from the comfortable way. I saw the barriers were not very high; anybody could step over them. If someone did step over the barriers, he would have to face the barren slope and the steeper mountainside, with the beautiful clouds and the sun at the top to where the narrow road was running.  If one managed to overcome the obstacles they could come to the narrow path.  At the beginning – close to dividing of both roads – it is fairly easy to climb up from the broad way, but later as  the distance and difference of level increases,  it becomes much more difficult. On the broad way the people are unable to go ahead without hindrances.  So many people are on this way that they come to hinder each other; more urgent ones crush slower ones. Weaker ones try to move to the edge of the road, but the mass of people press them onto the barriers.  If one gets chushed he will die there on the way. Whoever gets to the end, will win their „reward”: they will be alone in the utter darkness till the end of times.

The narrow road is slightly winding to facilitate advancing up the difficult and steep slope. Stones have slipped from the side of the road because there are some people who have seen how much easier it appears to walk the wider road, and risking spiritual integrity they have slithered off the narrow path to the wider one.  On other hand some have unintentionally veered off the narrow road because they were not paying sufficient attention to the precariously positioned stepping stones. These unwary people clung to the stones at the edge of the road until they could scramble back up on the path and continue their journey. The wisest travelers try to walk in the middle of the path where the paving stones are stable and in good condition.  Due to the steep incline, the force of gravity (Satan) pulls the travelers backward and therefore it is very easy to slip back. To climb from the wide road to the narrow road is very difficult, but it is not impossible. The Lord’s mercy helps defeat the obstacles that seem so difficult. Our brothers and sisters are able to support us against the slipping back. The key to progress on the narrow path is God’s infinite mercy and love, which makes the journey easier and more enjoyable. The reward can be attained only at the end of the road: when we reach the top God gives us His best.

I thank the Lord that a few days later – in the evening before bed – I read in the Book of Proverbs the following passages describing the two paths open to me. (NIV translation)

„In the way of righteousness there is life; along that path is immortality.” – Prov 12:28

„The path of life leads upward for the wise to keep him from going down to the grave.” – Prov 15:24

„There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death.” – Prov 16:25

„A violent man entices his neighbor and leads him down a path that is not good.” – Prov 16.29

„A man’s own folly ruins his life, yet his heart rages against the Lord.” – Prov 19:3

„All a man’s ways seem right to him, but the Lord weighs the heart.” – Prov 21:2

„A man who strays from the path of understanding comes to rest in the company of the dead.” -Prov 21:16
